The Chicago Fire travel to Southern California to take on a strong L.A. Galaxy squad on Saturday, July 9 at 9:30 p.m. CT (Fox Soccer/Fox Deportes). Come out to the official Fire Watch Party at The Globe Pub (1934 W. Irving Park Road, Chicago) with other Fire fans!
Dominic
Oduro is, according
to ESPN Chicago’s CharlieCorr, the Chicago Fire’s hottest offensive
threat. Oduro has netted four of his
five goals over the Fire’s past nine matches.
Plus, the Ghanaian striker is tied for the team scoring lead with midfielder
Marco Pappa.
Two of the
Fire’s young talent had a strong outing in the 5-0 Reserve League win over FC
Dallas on Tuesday. Forwards Cristian Nazarit scored a hat trick and Orr Barouch
bagged a brace in the romp at the Toyota Park practice field.
“Scoring a goal
always boosts your confidence,” Barouch
told Sam Stejskal MLSsoccer.com. “I felt good and Cristian also felt pretty
good and we’re hoping to do it this weekend. It’s all about confidence. When
you come in and you have that feeling that you will score, most of the time you
will, so it’s definitely good for us.”
Tweed Thornton found
the Reserve League victory promising. Read his full analysis of the match at Hot
Time in Old Town.
Another standout
for the Fire has been Sean Johnson. The 22-year-old goalkeeper has allowed just
five goals in his last eight starts. As
Kip Lewis of Comcast SportsNet Chicago reports, Johnson’s performance has
been integral in the Fire’s recent string of unbeaten matches.
The Chicago Fire will host the New York Red Bulls in a Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Quarterfinal at TOYOTA PARK on Tuesday, July 12 at 7:30 p.m. CT. Advance tickets for the Fire – Red Bulls match are available by calling 888-MLS-Fire, via Chicago-Fire.com andTicketmaster. Tickets start as low at $10 for Chicago Fire Season Ticket Holders.
