Coming off their first shutout of the season, but still in
the midst of a six game winless streak, the Chicago Fire look to this weekend’s
upcoming road game against Toronto FC at BMO Field. Watch the action live on Saturday, May 14 on
Comcast SportsNet. Kickoff is at 6:00 p.m.
If you missed the post-game round-ups, do not fret: the Fire
Wire has all the reaction from Saturday’s 0-0 draw against the Vancouver
Whitecaps.
Charlie Corr of ESPN Chicago called the draw “lackluster” in
his report. Despite numerous opportunities, the Men in Red could not find the
back of the net.
The defense was the subject of Sam Stejskal’s game review on
MLSsoccer.com. He called the Fire’s work on the back third of the pitch “one of
their better defensive performances of the season.”
The Chicago Tribune wrote that “despite dominating” the
Whitecaps, the Fire “failed to ignite.” On the bright side, he acknowledged the
team for its first shutout of the season and first since 2007 for goalie Jon
Conway.
Goal.com has a play-by-play review of the match in which the
Fire extended their winless streak to six games and the Whitecaps’ to seven.
Plus, in case you missed it, Guillermo Rivera of Chicago Now
has the information on the time change for the Chicago Fire vs. Manchester
United friendly on July 23rd. The World Football Challenge event
will now kickoff at 4pm. For all of the details, check out the full article on
