BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. – Fire midfielder Bratislav Ristic might miss this Saturday’s home opener against Sporting Kansas City.
Ristić didn’t participate in training on Tuesday after he injured his quad in the first half of last Saturday’s 1-1 draw at FC Dallas. Patrick Nyarko came on for the injured Serbian player in the 42nd minute.

“The doctor tells me that he might not be able to play on Saturday," Fire head coach Carlos de los Cobos said Tuesday. "We need to wait before we decide.”
De los Cobos said that Ristić will start if healthy.
“He’s an important player for us,” de los Cobos said. “He works very hard, he’s an experienced player and he’s a special player because he can play many different positions. I hope that we can use him on Saturday.”
Ristić wasn’t the only Fire player to miss Tuesday’s training. Joining him on the sidelines were defender Steven Kinney (ruptured achilles), forward Calen Carr (concussion), midfielder Mike Banner (bilateral achilles injury) and midfielder Marko Maric (left hamstring strain).
Kinney, Carr and Banner haven’t trained all season and will miss Saturday’s home opener.
Maric’s status is uncertain. He picked up an injury in training late last week and was listed as doubtful for last week’s game at Dallas.
