NEW YORK – The Chicago Fire announced today that forward Collins John and defender Krzysztof Krol will not be returning to the club after spending one season with the club.
“We would like to thank Collins and Krzysztof for their contributions to the Chicago Fire,” Fire Technical Director Frank Klopas said in a team statement. “We have mutually agreed with both players that parting ways is in the best interest of the players and the club. We wish them the best in their future endeavors.”
Krol joined the Fire from Jagiellonia Białystok of the Polish Ekstraklasa on a one-year loan deal which expired. He made 19 appearances at left back, starting on 17 occasions.
John and the Fire terminated his deal by mutual agreement after a season in which the former Fulham forward scored three goals in 17 appearances. He netted his first goal on April 3 in Colorado and then scored his other two goals in the two matches played against the L.A. Galaxy on August 1 and September 4.
Both players occupied two of the Fire's eight international slots, which are now vacated for new acquisitions.
