BRIDGEVIEW Ill. – A few notes from the Fire’s Wednesday morning training session:

Castillo, Segares ready to play

Designated Player Nery Castillo and defender Gonzalo Segares will be available for selection this Friday. Castillo missed the club’s last three matches with a hamstring injury. Segares sat out the last two games with a leg injury.

Brown and Robinson to start at center back

De los Cobos revealed on Wednesday that C.J. Brown and Dasan Robinson will start at center back on Friday.

The decision will relegate rookie defender Kwame Watson-Siriboe to the bench. Watson-Siriboe started the Fire’s last three games, performing well in the first two before taking a step back in the third.

Watson-Siriboe paired Robinson at center back in the last two matches. The 35-year-old Brown, who leads the Fire with 23 starts, was rested in each match.

Thorrington, Husidic, Krol and Umanzor questionable

The status of midfielders John Thorrington and Baggio Husidic is still up in the air. Thorrington, who picked up a quad injury in last week’s match at San Jose, did not train on Wednesday. Husidic, who missed the last two games with a quad strain, practiced Wednesday.

De los Cobos hinted that either Peter Lowry or Corben Bone will start in the middle alongside Logan Pause if both Thorrington and Husidic are unavailable.

Though not listed on the injury report, defenders Krzysztof Krol and Deris Umanzor are also questionable for Friday’s match. Krol picked up a quad injury late in last Saturday’s game at Dallas and didn’t participate in all of training on Wednesday.

Umanzor, who injured his hamstring on Tuesday, spent all of Wednesday morning on the sidelines.
