Andrew Dykstra gets his first start in goal in nearly three months Friday night as the Fire try to keep their faint playoff hopes alive.
Dykstra, who started the Fire's first 14 MLS games this season, steps in for injured Sean Johnson as longtime rival Columbus pays a visit to Toyota Park.
Johnson, the rookie keeper who started 12 straight league games since early August , was injured during practice Tuesday when a close-range shot hit him in the right eye.
"It's all right (starting again), but I'm more concerned about Sean and his eye. It's such an unfortunate thing to happen," said Dykstra, who had a 1.36 goals against average and three shutouts during his run.
"I had the experience at the beginning of the year and I don't think there's a lot of backups who can say that," he said. "Training doesn't change whether you're the starter or not … you just try to act like you never left."
Johnson is expected to be fine after resting for a few days.
