Rolfe says no timetable for AaB return yet

AMSTERDAM – Still busy working his way back from a nagging hamstring injury, Aalborg BK forward Chris Rolfe says it's even more difficult to sit on the side with the team struggling.

The former Chicago Fire man, who has not suited up since April, was originally expected to be fit by now. He is finally nearing a full training return, but reports there is no target date set yet.

"I'm currently able to get through most agility drills at up to 90 percent intensity," Rolfe told MLSsoccer.com. "Side-to-side movements give me no discomfort, but I'm still having trouble when pushing off explosively to move straight ahead and also covering longer distances with a full stride."

With AaB second-to-bottom through the new season's first seven games, the American admits it's difficult to fight the urge to hurry back.

"It's always tough to be away from training and games, but what makes it worse for me is when the team isn't winning," Rolfe said.

"That makes my recovery psychologically challenging because I'm emotionally driven to push harder through my injury to get back on the field. With this sort of injury, trying to push the body quicker than it wants is not a good thing to attempt."

Injury-hit Aalborg will try to climb out of the drop zone when they host AC Horsens on Sunday.
