Shani Davis to Rally Fans

Olympic Gold Medalist speed skater Shani Davis will be featured as the official Chicago Fire scarf raiser when the Fire host the “Fire Goes Green” match against the Houston Dynamo on Saturday, April 24 7:30 PM CT (Comcast SportsNet) at TOYOTA PARK. As the Fire’s scarf raiser, Davis will rally fans from the pitch prior to kickoff of the Fire’s match this Saturday.

Davis will don a commemorative Chicago Fire jersey featuring green colored name and numbers, and a special patch to help highlight the “going green” initiatives throughout the game against Houston Dynamo. Fans attending the Fire vs. Dynamo match will have an opportunity to bid on Davis’ jersey along with game-worn, commemorative Fire jerseys from each member of the team.  Winners will be given the opportunity to have the Fire player personally autograph the game-worn jersey after the game. All proceeds benefit the Chicago Fire Foundation.  For more information contact the Chicago Fire Foundation at 708-496-6740.

Hailing from Chicago, Davis is known as the fastest man on skates winning four Winter Olympic medals, including two gold medals in 1000-meter speed skating; one at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy, and more recently at the 2010 Winter Olympics held in Vancouver, Canada. He currently holds world records in 1000-meter and 1500-meter speed skating, and has captured a total of eight World Championships.
