2013: PHI: Started three matches for the Union before returning to Chicago in a trade on May 23. CHI: Started all 22 matches in which he appeared. Scored his first ever professional goal in a 3-0 road victory against D.C. United on Oct. 4.

2012: In January Soumare signed a loan with Bundesliga second division club Karlsruher SC.  He made seven appearances during his loan.  On June 26, the Philadelphia Union signed him after trading with Vancouver Whitecaps FC to move up in the MLS Allocation Order.  Soumare appeared in one game before suffering a knee injury that kept him out the rest of the season.

2011: He appeared in 16 games for Boulogne.

2010: He appeared in 31 games for Boulogne.  He scored twice.  He also served as the team’s captain on several occasions.

2009: He appeared and started in 16 games, logging 1364 minutes.  He was selected to the MLS All-Star team.  In August, Soumare was transferred to French First Division side Boulogne.  He appeared in 20 games including twice in the Coupe de France.

2008: He appeared and started 28 games logging 2514 minutes.  He was nominated for the MLS Defender of the Year and was named to the MLS Best XI.

2007: Drafted by the Chicago Fire with the second overall pick in the 2007 MLS SuperDraft.  He appeared in 19 games, starting 11 and logging 1072.

International: Soumare has been capped by Mali 13 times since deciding to play for his native country in 2008. He has played in a string of World Cup qualifying matches and the Africa Cup of Nations.
