Lineup Notes | Chicago Fire FC vs Houston Dynamo

Chicago Fire returns to the Windy City to play host to Houston Dynamo FC on Chicago Sports Night. Kickoff against the defending Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup champions is set for 7:30 p.m. CT and will be broadcast globally on MLS Season Pass. The match will also be transmitted locally in Chicago via wlsam.com in English and WRTO 1200 AM in Spanish.

Klopas and his squad are looking to rebound from a 3-0 loss at Atlanta United while Houston is coming off a 2-1 come-from-behind victory against the San Jose Earthquakes at Shell Energy Stadium. 

  • Chicago Head Coach Frank Klopas makes four changes to his lineup from Matchay 7’s contest against Atlanta United.
  • Defender Arnaud Souquet and midfielder Chris Mueller earn their first starts of the season. Mueller is playing in his 150th MLS regular season match and starting his 106th regular season match.
  • Captain Xherdan Shaqiri returns to the starting lineup, starting his 54th regular season match for the Fire.
  • Goalkeeper Chris Brady starts in the net for the seventh time this season, having only missed one game due to international duty.
  • Defenders Rafael Czichos and Allan Arigoni, midfielder Maren Haile-Selassie and forward Hugo Cuypers start their seventh-consecutive match together. Czichos is the only player to have played the full 90 minutes in all of the Fire’s six previous matches this season.
  • Defender Tobias Salquist returns to the XI to earn his fourth start of the season.
  • Midfielders Kellyn Acosta and Fabian Herbers start in the midfield together for the sixth time this season.
  • Defenders Chase Gasper (upper leg), Andrew Gutman (upper leg) and Carlos Terán (red card suspension) are unavailable for today’s match.
  • Available off the bench for Coach Klopas are goalkeeper Spencer Richey; defenders Jonathan Dean and Wyatt Omsberg; defender/midfielder Mauricio Pineda; midfielders Gastón Giménez, Brian Gutiérrez and Federico Navarro; and forwards Tom Barlow and Georgios Koutsias.
