NEW YORK & MEXICO CITY (Friday, February 14, 2014) – The Federación Mexicana de Fútbol (FMF) and Soccer United Marketing (SUM) announced today that Mexico will round out its 2014 pre-World Cup U.S. Tour with two key matches in early June in Chicago and the Boston area, days before beginning its participation in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Mexico will face Bosnia and Herzegovina at the historic Soldier Field in Chicago on Tuesday, June 3 (9:30 p.m. ET). The match, presented by Allstate, will be a rematch from their memorable last meeting two years ago at the same venue. Mexico will then finalize its pre-World Cup preparations with a send-off match in Foxborough, Mass. against Portugal and FIFA Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo at Gillette Stadium on Friday, June 6 (8:30 p.m. ET), presented by Knorr and Hellmann's.

El Tricolor kicked off its pre-World Cup U.S. tour with a resounding win over Korea Republic in San Antonio, TX on January 29. As previously announced, Mexico will go up against current African Cup of Nations champion Nigeria at Atlanta’s Georgia Dome on March 5 – the only FIFA date prior to the World Cup. Mexico will then begin its final journey to Brazil with a stop in Arlington, Texas on May 31 where they will face Ecuador at AT&T Stadium, immediately followed by the June 3 and June 6 match dates announced today. All of Mexico’s opponents during the 2014 U.S. Tour are World Cup-bound nations.

Mexico v Bosnia and Herzegovina – Soldier Field – June 3

Soldier Field has staged numerous high-profile events in its 84-year history, including five 1994 FIFA World Cup games, and most recently the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup final. The historic venue last hosted the Mexican National Team in May 2012 against Bosnia and Herzegovina as part of Mexico’s U.S. Tour, with the match ending in a 2-1 win for El Tricolor in front of more than 50,000 fans. Mexico is undefeated against Bosnia-Herzegovina all-time having met twice before.

Bosnia and Herzegovina will travel to Brazil in June to participate in the 2014 FIFA World Cup where they will face Argentina, Nigeria and Iran in Group F. Currently ranked among the top 20 in the FIFA world rankings, Bosnia and Herzegovina boasts a rich roster of international standouts, including  Manchester City star forward Edin Džeko, Bayer Leverkusen defender and captain Emir Spahić, former St. Louis University product and Stuttgart forward Vedad Ibišević, and Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanić.
