Duka suffers hamstring injury, listed as questionable for Sunday vs. Chivas USA

Duka listed as questionable for Sunday, Pause looks set to return

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. -- The Fire could be without the services of midfielder Dilly Duka for Sunday’s match against Chivas USA (3:30pm CT My50/UniMas) after the winger suffered tightness in his left hamstring during Friday’s training session at Toyota Park.

Duka appeared as questionable on the Athletico Injury Report Friday afternoon and will be evaluated ahead of Sunday’s game.

AlexYazid AtoubaCorben Bone and Chris Rolfe are capable of playing on the left should Duka be unable to go on Sunday.

Logan Pause Update

Though his name came off the injury list on Tuesday, Logan Pause still seemed to be in doubt for Sunday's match earlier this week as Fire head coach Frank Klopas told reporters he was experiencing pain in his back and hamstring.

Pause told reporters the same day that he was "inching along" in his recovery from a quad injury that left him unavailable for the team's first three matches of the season.

Asked how he felt Friday, the Fire captain said, "I’m feeling really good. Each day I feel like I’m getting better. Today I felt I turned the corner and I’m really happy about it."

Pause seems likely to be in the squad for Sunday's match vs. Chivas but if he's unable to go the full 90, Wells Thompson would be the probable starter at right back.

Does the cold give Fire an advantage?

On Sunday the Fire play a Chivas USA side that has been based in balmy Los Angeles almost exclusively since the start of preseason in January.

Do the slightly colder temperatures in Chicago give the home side an advantage?

According to defender Gonzalo Segares, the answer is, "not really."

"Maybe for me the heat would be a factor but cold, not so much. I think once you get going and running, your body warms up and you're fine.

"Both teams are playing in the same conditions. We might be a little more used to the cold but I don't think it'll make much of a difference."
