Section 8 Doubles Season Ticket Base

Season tickets grow from 400 to 800 in offseason

The Chicago Fire Soccer Club, in conjunction with Section 8 Chicago, announced today that Section 8, the Independent Supporters’ Association of the Chicago Fire, has doubled its season ticket base from 400 to over 800 ahead of the Fire’s Opening Day at TOYOTA PARK against Kansas City tomorrow, Saturday, March 26 at 3:00 p.m. CT (My50/TeleFutura).

"The tremendous rise in the number of Section 8 season ticket holders for the 2011 Fire season is a testament to the value of the true partnership between supporters and the club,” said Section 8 Chairman Tom Dunmore. “Together we have been able to convey the excitement and passion of Section 8 to attract more supporters to become part of the club as season ticket holders. Section 8 will be stronger and louder than ever before this year, a big step towards realizing the Section 8 Chicago mission statement "to unite all Chicago Fire fans, to create a dominant in-stadium force unseen in any American team sport and to establish a home-field advantage whenever the Chicago Fire play."

As part of an agreement between the club and the supporters, the Fire will offer all 800 Section 8 Season Ticket Holders travel to Columbus, Ohio for the Men in Red’s match against the Columbus Crew at Crew Stadium on Sunday, June 12. As a “thank you” from the club, Section 8 will be provided with as many as 16 buses to make the trek to root on the Fire against their Eastern Conference foes.

Following the 2010 MLS campaign, the Fire evaluated their ticket sales philosophy and integrated fan input to propose the most progressive season ticket campaign in the club’s 14-year history. Gaining feedback from its supporters about the kind of offers and incentives they want in a Fire season ticket package the Fire developed a season ticket campaign built by-and-for a supporter. The result has seen the club sell over 2000 new season tickets in the offseason, breaking the previous club best of 1936 season tickets sold set in 1998, the Fire inaugural year.
