Carr drives home winner

McCarthy: Fire takes over sole possession of 4th in MLS East

Calen Carr couldn't have been more delighted with his return to the Fire on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old forward scored the winning goal in the 85th minute as the Fire claimed a 2-1 MLS victory over the Revolution in front of 14,056 fans at Toyota Park.

The fifth-year veteran, sidelined since a preseason leg injury, made the most of his first scoring chance when he maneuvered around two defenders and sent a right-footed shot past Revolution goalie Matt Reis.

"It was a really difficult road ... and it's an indescribable feeling to be healthy after so much time out," said Carr, who took a feed from Freddie Ljungberg on the play. "Right after I scored, I just ran and celebrated with my teammates and let it soak in."

Baggio Husidic, meanwhile, scored his first goal in more than two months as the Fire (6-5-6, 24 points) took over sole possession of fourth place in the MLS East. New England (6-10-3, 21 points) has not beaten the Fire in league play since May 2007.
